Are celebrities not human beings like the rest of us? If so, the question becomes is there a fatal attraction between celebrities and controlled substances? Is it more difficult for them to overcome their addictions when they are constantly in the spotlight?

"Nobody knows better than Duff McKagan. McKagan left one of the most popular bands of his time because he couldn’t handle all the drugs and alcohol.

The longtime drug and alcohol addict nearly died from an exploding pancreas in 1994 at age 30 before he was motivated to get help. He hated seeing his mother’s incessant weeping that she would lose her youngest child. This was reported in UsaToday.

That was the initial motivator. He later found mental, physical and spiritual peace through martial arts. He currently is one of the success stories. He has been clean and sober for years and has finally found happiness.

Like many who find sobriety, McKagan knows that there is pure joy in life. Addiction is depressing and could kill you. It almost killed him.

If you or someone you care about has an addiction problem, seek help ASAP. If you prefer to maintain anonymity, there are online drug classes too.
