The Law

In the Province of Quebec, including the cities of Montreal and Quebec City, the legal drinking age is 18. If you are under the age of 18 and in possession of alcohol or caught consuming alcohol, you can be charged and penalized.

The Penalties

Minors who are convicted of alcohol-related offenses may be required to pay a fine, complete an alcohol awareness program, or be subjected to other penalties. One of the most common penalties is a court-ordered mandate to attend and complete an MIP class, which can vary from 8 hours in duration to 24, depending on the severity of the offense.

The Solution

  • Comply with all court orders.
  • Consult an attorney when necessary.
