The stories of Hollywood tragedies due to drug and alcohol abuse are numerous and tragic. From Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston to Amy Winehouse and now Johnny Lewis, it seems like substance abuse ruins the lives of some of Hollywood’s most talented people.

I was a big fan of “Sons of Anarchy” and really thought star Johnny Lewis had the making of a great Hollywood star. It was shocking to hear the story of his death last month. As reported in www.huffingtonpost.com.

The 28-year-old is suspected of killing his elderly landlord, Catherine Davis, and her cat, and attacking his neighbors, before he was found dead outside Davis' home. Lewis' body was found on the driveway, and it's believed he may have jumped or fallen from the roof, garage or balcony.

Davis' autopsy revealed her cause of death was blunt head trauma and manual strangulation.

Lewis had just been released from jail on Sept. 21 and after a recent stint in rehab. His probation officer saw the writing on the wall warning that he was both a danger to himself and his community.

How long Lewis suffered from mental illness we do not know, but there is no doubt that his drug use fanned the flames of any illness he had.

The violent outburst at the time of death could have been triggered by a popular new synthetic drug called Smiles.

Lewis was an active member of the Church of Scientology (along with Tom Cruise and John Travolta). Hopefully his death will trigger one of his fans to discontinue drug use and perhaps save their life.
