Because we have an obsession with celebrities we know their personal lives better now than ever before. When they fall victim to substance abuse – we know about it!

Singer Whitney Houston's death last month from accidental drowning from the effects of cocaine use and heart disease was yet another sign that there exists a real problem with drugs among our celebrities.

Most recently the deaths of Houston, 48, Amy Winehouse, 27 and also Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger and Anna Nicole Smith remind us of how often drug overdoses occur. This as reported in UsaToday.com.

Looking back a couple of decades you remember the deaths of John Belushi, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and Judy Garland

Americans these days can't escape the steady stream of news about celebrities and their controlled substances.

One of the recent poster-children (pun-intended) for Hollywood celebrities with drug addiction issues has been 25-year-old Lindsay Lohan.

Could she be the future as well?

After years of erratic behavior, multiple arrests and five stints in rehab, Lohan says she's finally cleaned up her act. She promises to stay away from drugs and alcohol. I hope that she does stay sober. I hope she becomes a model for others that clean and sober is how life is supposed to be lived!
